It was great to hear from some of you how you used what you learned at yesterday's PD today in your classrooms. Please share. Post it here!

I am glad that both workshops I attended were really good and presented ideas that I felt could be implemented right at Mosaic.
ReplyDeleteIn the first, a math coach from Brooklyn talked about the math workshops her school facilitated with parents. I’ve facilitated workshops and classes with parents over the years and love the opportunity to interact with them and to help support them in their own learning and in supporting their children educationally. I hope that we will be able to do a lot more with them in this way next year.
The second showed student projects related to social studies themes. The presenters showed the work they had done with students in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades--two of the classes were dual language classes. Prof. Valentin and I were at the same workshop and we turned to each other and said, "We can do this." The projects were from a DOE web site, with the whole project laid out. The teachers who did this, of course, adapted the projects to meet their contexts, resources and time constraints. The projects presented seemed like a great idea for a SWEP focus, even for our little ones. The web site is:

Yes, let us see if we can conduct monthly parent workshops. I particurly like doing Family Math Nights.
